Dive the Great Barrier Reef
Just as winter hits Tucson, Desert Divers will lead a group of divers halfway around the globe for two weeks of diving the North Coral Sea during Australia's sunny summer months. This is liveaboard diving at its finest, and an opportunity for divers to experience one of the most spectacular and sought after areas in the world. Sitting atop one of the world's foremost diving symbols- the legendary Great Barrier Reef- the Coral Sea offers a one-of-a-kind diving experience. Our trip will explore the beautiful diversity of the Ribbon Reefs, dive with a family of large Potatoe Cod at Cod Hole, and venture to the crystal clear center of the Coral Sea at Osprey Reef.Awaiting divers is everything from large pelagics and huge schools of reef fish to hammerheads, reef sharks, and whaler sharks. The home of this diverse marine life is over 2,900 individual organic reefs- the largest structure built by living organisms- littered with an astounding array of corals, fans, and anemones. Diving doesn't get anymore epic than this.
The Adventure of a Lifetime
The base of operations for the week of unlimited diving is the 120 foot Spirit of Freedom. With 3 spacious levels of luxurious accommodations, the vessel has more than enough more for a sun deck, bar and lounge, dining salon, and large dive deck, in addition to eleven spacious and comfortable cabins. The vessel is fully air-conditioned and offers a quiet and stable ride to give the diver the smoothest cruise possible. Surrounding the cruise plan on spending 3 nights exploring the Australian mainland out of Cairns. The opportunities abound to experience the beauty of the rainforest and the historic colonial city of Cairns. So much to explore so little time!
