Scuba Instructor Training Course

The Instructor Developement College offered through Desert Divers Scuba Centers,Ocean Sports in San Carlos Mexico,and Pima Community College offers the most complete instructor training program available. By combining the resources of a Scuba facility, a resort faclity and an internationally recognized college we are able to provide an unparalleled learning enviroment. We will train you to be a professional,confident,and enthusiastic Open Water Scuba Instructor. Scuba Schools International's (SSI) Total Teaching System provides you the tools be an ambassador to the world of scuba diving. You will learn how to train safe,confident,and comfortable scuba divers, gain a working knowledge of Scuba facility operations, acquire sales skills,and experience Resort operations first hand at Ocean Sports in San Carlos,Mexico.

We also welcome instructors from other training agencies who wish to become Scuba Schools International (SSI) instructors. Cross-Over courses are available during all scheduled Instructor Training Courses.


Prerequisits for the Desert Divers Instructor Training Course, you must:

1. Be certified as a Dive Control Specialist/Dive Master or higher from any NSTC recognized training agency.
2. Be at least 18 years old.
3. Be fit for diving and submit a current medical form signed by a physician.
4. Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months and logged at least 100 open water dives with experience in night, deep, and navigation prior to beginning the Instructor Development College.
5. Submit proof of CPR training within the past 24 months.
6. Have current professional quality diving equipment or arrange to purchase your equipment from Desert Divers or Ocean Sports prior to beginning the course.


Instructor Training College

During the Desert Divers Instructor Training Course, you will learn how to utilize the Total Diving System of diver education, follow industry standards and procedures, deliver effective academic teaching presentations, teach in confined water, conduct open water training dives, dive facility/resort operations, and sales. Upon completion of the course you will be properly prepared to work for Dive Facilities and Resorts any where in the world.

After successful completion of the Instructor Training Course (ITC), you will be evaluated by the Instructor Certifier who will conduct your final Instructor Examination (IE). You will be evaluated on: dive theory, academic presentations, confined-water (pool) teaching skills, open-water teaching and general diving skills, professionalism, sales techniques, and dive facilty/resort operations. Upon successful completion of the ITC and IE you will be awarded your Openwater Instructor Certification. Serious Diving Serious Fun.

This Course is run in partnership with Pima Community College in Tucson, Az. It is a fully accredited program that upon successful completion of all training and evaluation requirements provides you with 3 credits hours which can be used towards any associates or higher college degree. Our Instructor College qualifies under state and federal regulations for student loans and VA educational funding. We also offer a job placement service with facilities and resorts in the USA and abroad.
